On Saturday October 26th, a great group of animal lovers got together in Pasadena, California to help Farm Sanctuary in the 2013 Los Angeles Walk for Animals, which I was fortunate enough to be a part of. Not only was the walk a great success for the animals of Farm Sanctuary, it was full of fun stuff for humans! The weather was beautiful, making it a great walk around downtown Pasadena. There was live music, a yoga session to warm up before the walk, free vegan food, many pet participants (some in adorable Halloween costumes,) and more. I was on the EARN (Expand Animal Rights Now) team with some of my favorite animal rights activists. If you haven’t hear of EARN, read my other article at: http://www.thepetmatchmaker.com/who-will-be-the-voice-for-animals/
Farm Sanctuary is an animal rights group with the mission to “protect farm animals from cruelty, inspire change in the way society views and treats farm animals, and promote compassionate vegan living,” with a focus on ending animal abuse in factory farming. The walk was created to give a voice to farm animals and to raise money to provide care for the animals living at the Farm Sanctuary locations around the country, as well as to educate the public about the horrible truths behind factory farming. Close to 2 million dollars has been raised through these walks in the past and the 2013 Los Angeles Walk for Animals raised roughly $23,000.
